Raining buckets!

Every state I've ever lived in boasts the craziest, ever-changing weather.  In fact, each state I've lived in has the saying, "if you don't like the weather.... just wait 5 minutes!"  That phrase can't be more true when talking about thunderstorms in Houston.  They seem to pop up out of nowhere, cause tremendous havoc, and be gone before you even realize what has happened.
Now I always have a pair of rain boots and nice umbrella in my car for these such instances.  However, a thunderstorm blew in so fast while meeting at a job site, the boots and umbrella in my car didn't help me much while it was parked 100 feet away.

It rained hard! The lightening was close and the thunder felt closer!  Quickly, the dry dusty dirt turned to slippery mud and small rivers formed in the tire tracks.

Just when I thought I was going to have to just run for it, two of the construction workers walked over to me. They were carrying a 4x8 sheet of flashing material over their heads creating a small moving tent.  I flashed them one very sincere puppy-dog look and they came right over to escort me to my car!

My smile couldn't have been bigger as I scooted in between them and walked to my car, completely protected from the torrential rain!  They even sheltered my car while I loaded my stuff and got in!

Don't ever underestimate the power of a sincere smile!

5 minutes down the road and not even out of the subdivision... blue skies and not a drop of rain!
