Did you say up-cycling?

Check out these awesome tumbler glasses made out of up-cycled wine glasses. These glasses are not only great looking, but they are great for the environment as well. Instead of tossing used wine bottles into the trash, some companies are taking them and up cycling.

Up cycling “is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.” (thank you Wikipedia). Basically, you take something old and useless and make it new and awesome.

Each glass is made out of an old wine bottle. They are cut and re-flamed so that there are no sharp edges. This means that every glass is unique in its own way. This set here is a set of 16oz and 8oz. tumblers.  The height and color depends on the wine bottle it self.

We are super excited to share this product. They will make a great gift for any wine lover out there for sure.

... jumpin' on the bed!

So- you've seen my stuck underneath of a bed and now you'll see me soaring over a bed.

I swear this isn't what I do when my clients aren't home!

A couple of months ago, I had some head-shots taken and decided to have some fun in spare bedroom.

Who says work can't be a whole lot of fun!!

Color Day :)

So the whole time I was in school as an Interior Design major, all of my friends who were in other majors thought all I did was color all day.

I would get mad and say that's not what I did and that Interior Design was way harder than what they thought it was.

So these pictures are for them... :)

Pleasure Pier, Galveston, TX

Back in May, my roommate Cortney and I headed to Galveston for a Saturday afternoon. We went for a nice lunch at one of my favorite restaurants called the Mosquito Cafe.

Cortney hadn't been to Galveston in a long time so we drove around until we found the seawall and wound running right into Galveston's "Pleasure Pier." (Click here to visit Pleasure Pier's website!)
I think we both saw the roller coaster dangling over the water from the end of the pier at the same time.  We didn't even have to discuss whether or not we were going to go.... I simply found a parking spot and we headed up to the pier.
We were both pretty excited! It might look cloudy and cool - but it was a hot and humid day.  Jeans were a terrible choice.  I haven't been to an amusement park in years - so we started on some of the smaller rides.

Anyone who has sat next to me on a ride knows that I giggle....well, I really laugh hysterically.

The rides were a blast and refreshing in the hot weather. We rode all that we could that day, a few more rides have opened since we were there.

For anyone who watches the TV show "Archer" will appreciate this!

In conclusion, Pleasure Pier was fun! You should go :)

Bring On Some Color!!

Okay I realize, that while I love bright, bold, beautiful colors, magenta might not be for everyone. But you don’t have to be afraid of color either.
There are some really great and easy ways to brighten up your space without painting your room road stripe yellow.

Take these rooms for example: The walls are off white and the furniture is basically neutral, but you don’t feel like you are looking at a sterile space do you? This is because there is colorful objects placed strategically around the room.

The pillows on the couch add color and break up the large beige area, and tie in the accessories on the table.

The paintings on the wall add depth and character to the room. This is because they are colorful!

Keep in mind that florals are a great way to add pops of color to any space. Take this room for example; these flowers add a lot of depth to the space.

So if you are afraid of color, keep in mind that a little can go a long way to make your room gorgeous!

The Olympics are on... I'm obsessed!

I really should have take some vacation days this month. The Olympics are on and I'm obsessed.  I can hardly focus at work and avoiding all news outlets so that when I watch NBC's prime time coverage and be surprised is proving to be incredibly difficult.

The time change and delayed broadcasting is heartbreaking. But I think I'll be able to make it another week and a half.

Most of you readers probably know that I don't have cable. Mostly because I don't have time to watch any TV.  So I have several friends recording the broadcasts and I've been treating them to dinners for letting me watch in the evenings.

Who isn't ecstatic for Michael Phelps or the Women's Gymnastics team?  Because I am thrilled! So many amazing things have happened already only 5 days into the competition.... can't wait to keep watching!

Wallpaper...It's not what it used to be!

So I know that wall paper has this super bad rep for being well…not the best looking thing out there. Let’s be honest most of our grandmothers had some pretty…interesting wall coverings back in the day. Or my personal favorite the teddy bear border my mom put around my room. (They were a little creepy) BUT, wallpaper gotten so much better over the years and companies have really stepped up their game.

One of the coolest things I’ve seen being done with wall paper is to make a giant piece of art out of it. Seabrook, a wallpaper company, has come out with a gorgeous wallpaper that has a huge motif. It can be mounted to a 54” x 108” canvas!

This is a great and unique way to get a large piece of art for a wall. Actually we are planning to use the wall paper shown above for a project. This is going to look sooooo awesome in a niche. The plan is to mount the wallpaper to a canvas and to glaze the piece to make it look more like a piece of art and not just wall paper.

Don’t worry as soon as we have pictures, they will be posted!
